We specialise in Australian local and political history, Australian literature, biography, poetry, plus rare and curious books.

We have, however, many thousands of other books. Our shop is open by appointment (ph 0403 568 112); or you can email us with your requests (frankcollectorbooks@gmail.com). Even if that special book you are after is not in stock we have excellent search resources: there is a good chance we can find it for you or help you find it. Contact us.

Save this Date: Sunday 14 May, 2pm, Collector Bookshop and Gallery. Talk with Richard Begbie on "Cotter" - his historical novel about pioneering days of Lake George and the Cotter Valley

Richard's celebrated book about this regional pioneer was launched late in 2016 and has already sold out 2 editiions and the third will soon be available.  We are delighted to announce that Richard will give a talk at Collector Books at 22 Church Street Collector on 14 May. He will discuss Cotter's connections with people and places in this area, the region and the wider colonial setting.  Copies will be available for signing.  Refreshments will be served.

Regional and Local History

We have a large collection in this area most of which are not on-line. A particularly strong choice of books on  the ACT and region, Sydney and its suburbs and NSW. If you are after a particular book let us know. If we do not have it we should be able to tell you where to get it at the best price.

Mackinolty Estate Books

We are still working through this collection. Items include 17th century books and pamphlets relating to the English Revolution; books relating to early Australian legal and constitutiional history; and an excellent number of regional and local histories- especially relating to Sydney.  This will take some time to process but we welcome your enquiries.

Political books

We have recently obtained a  large number of important political books. Some of these have been signed by the politician involved and/or the author. Political signatories include Gough Whitlam, Joan Child, Nicole Roxon, Gerry Adams and Al Grassby. We will be processing these over the next few months.

Postage costs

Australia Post has increased charges and changed their methodology where costs are variable for books weighing over 500 grams; and may soon change again. So, since some of our on-line books postal charges reflect their previous pricing, you will need to be aware that, while we will not bother increasing sharges if the changes are small, we may need to increase them where the difference is significant.

Collector Bookshop

Our bookshop is open by appointment. We are often there doing on-line and other work. So, if you have an enquiry and/ or would like to pay a visit, give us a call on 0403 568 112 or email frankcollectorbooks@gmail.com.

If you would like to combine your visit with a meal or refreshments, please note we are next door to the Bushranger Hotel, which has excellent meals, beers and wines. There is also Some Cafe (corner Bourke and Murray streets) in Collector - which has the wonderful coffee, light meals and baked treats to die for; Grandma's Bakery on the Federal Highway 2km north of Collector, which has amazing Mediterranean cuisine with stunning views; and Lerida Winery and Cafe 8km South of Collector where magnificent views over Lake George complement its award winning wines.

Since Collector is one of the oldest centres of European settlement in country Australia, there is much to see and explore. The Collector History Tour booklet available from our shop and the Bushranger Hotel is an essential guide.
